On Saturday the family and I spent part of the afternoon at Marsh Creek State Park. It’s a lovely park off of Rte. 100, near the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
We meant to spend the entire afternoon there, but we got a little lost. Well, an hour lost, actually. Instead of coming in from the Turnpike and Rte. 100 we came in from Rte. 322. As it was our first time there, we didn’t know that there was a boat entrance and a picnic area. We went to the boat ramp, and turned the completely wrong way out of that part of the park. We had a very nice drive in the countryside around Downingtown, PA while we looked for the correct entrance.
Once we did find the right place, it was a wonderful day. There is a very beautiful lake with sailboats and catamarans and a bit of beach. There are also beautiful picnic areas, a nice playground and a public swimming pool. The boys can’t wait to go back to swim in the pool!
We did have a nice picnic and then spent hours playing on the playground. It is big enough for both the nine year old and the two year old to have fun. Next time we go we plan to spend more time on the trails, and at the beach. It is definitely a place we will go often. At least now that we know how to properly get there :).
